Day 30 - It Inspired It All

Cant forget the things that inspired the first games of dungeons & dragons, & thus inspired all the following rpgs in gaming history. Whether they are paper & pen, or digital mmorpgs. All rpgs pay homage to a certain hobbit, a grey wizard, & a quest to destroy an evil ring.

Day 29 - In the Begining

I thought this image of superman was fitting for this quote. Even though its a quote from auron in final fantasy ten, its the same way we all feel about our characters we make & play. The excitement, the jump in head first mentality we all take in those first few moments. 

Then again it could be I just wanted a cool image. ^_^

And you thought I was talking about a Rob Zombie song. No but seriously, these little bastards freak me the hell out. What with their exploding & destroying of all the gear you have built for your home/base. Fuckers. 

Day 24 - Thy Blood Spill Upon The Floor To My Mouth?

Who didnt want to play a batshit insane vampire back in the day? I know I certainly did & still want to if I ever get to play an old world of darkness Masquerade game one day. 

Day 23 - Statement: Just a simple droid, here, ma'am. Nothing to see. Move along.

Gotta love the evil ever comical NPCs you pick up along the way in a quest.......ahhh good times.....

Day 22 - Remember How Scary The Butcher Was?

Seriously this son of a bitch scared the shit out of me when I first played diablo. He was a mean bastard!!

Day 21 - Siblings and Sorcery!!

Anyone who has watched the episode of Dexters Lab called D&DD should get this reference. We have all ran into GMs who seem to want to mess with us sheerly for kicks, & if we havnt, we have heard the horror stories.

Day 20 - President Lincoln Is An Ape???!!!

"Looks like I failed my save vs stupid plot twists."

Cause you know we have all fallen prey to these at some point. Theres nothing worse then running into something that really screws the pooch on the plot of a campaign.

Day 17 - He did WHAT??? Oh to hell with it......

How many times have you been backed into a corner, no clue whether to negotiate, run, or fight......then just get frustrated & say to hell with it? Next thing you know your swinging hard & praying for natural 20s. 

Ahhh those are good times.

Day 16 - So My Options Are To........Run Away?

"If the GM has you outnumbered 15 to 1, hes trying to tell you something."

I am guilty of this one from time to time. I tend to run games in which the players are not neccesarily heros, but they are trying to survive really bad situations. Sometimes though players think that because its a game they can just truck through & not worry.

Not so all the time. Sometimes when your faced with a group of horribley pissed off vampires, or demonics forces are appearing everywhere, its a better choice to GTFO.

Day 15 - So I Just Killed Your Family IC

"Hate the character, not the player"

This one bears mentioning for all those people that can not differ between something you do as a character in either a table top rpg or a larp. I used to larp alot last year & found that there was a great deal of people who would treat me and others based on what they did with their characters.

That is simply put, stupid & moronic. We are not our characters, if your anything like me, you like to try new character types that you are not used to & roll with it. I've had friends screw me over in a game hard due to plot & character reasons, to only joke about it later on when not playing the game.

So just realize its a game people.

Day 14 - Sometimes You Just Gotta Throw In The Towel

"No Gaming is Better then Bad Gaming"

This phrase has proven true to just about every experienced gamer out there. You find a group that just doesn't mesh well, or something about the game just isn't doing it for you. Sometimes it is more worth it to not participate in a game rather then trying to "suck it up". Forcing yourself to play merely because you want a good game never works. 

Day 13 - Level One Is About Staying Alive

"At level two you get to say Whoops, but then you have to sleep."

This was from tonight's pathfinder game. As we discussed how level one was all about surviving, and how level two there was some room for error as long as you got to rest afterwards.

And yes I got to use color spray. Those bandits didnt have a chance.

Day 12 - Need Any Dead People Raised?

"A real friend is the one with the 5,000 gp diamond when you fail your fort save."

Day 11 - Sometimes You Just Botch

Yesterday was a bit of an errand day & had to visit my mom in the hospital, so a day late.

I find it hilarious that some people can justify this kinda stuff in games, & that they get away with it sometimes. Most of the time though a good Game Master will make that player suffer.

Day 9 - What to do about our rival heros?

"Kill them & take their stuff"

Need I explain this one? A rival group of heros shows up & starts stealing your thunder. Eventually out of sheer frustration this suggestion for a solution will pop up.

Works for kirby apparently. Link shouldn't have stole his thunder.

Day 8 - Why is the Ground Rumbling....

"Tentacles, never a good sign."

I dont think I need to even explain this one. Even non gamers agree this quote is total truth.

Well unless your a very perverted man living in a small room in japan.......but I digress!!!

Being as the local game clubs mascot is the elder god himself, I think this one has been muttered in just about any game involving otherworldly type entities either waking or bursting through into our reality.

Day 7 - Starter Weapons From Random People

"Its dangerous to go alone. Take this"

I think anyone who has played the original Legend of Zelda knows this one. And if you havnt, you have at some point played a game in which some random NPC gives you your only starting weapon, which you quickly try to replace but always seem to come back to. 

Ahhh good times. Thanks old man.

Day 6 - It Speaks For Itself.

"Mega Damage Bitches"

The first game I ever played was Rifts. I own about 1/3 to half of the entire set & I gotta say I hold a special place in my heart for it. Every gamer who has played more then a few game systems has one that no matter how clunky the rules may be, they always come back to it.

Rifts is a system that allows anything to happen in it. Earth being a nexus for not only our universe, but all possible realitys, makes it very much so a kitchen sink setting.

Day 5 - The Green Or The Red? How about all?

 "Fear my color spray!!"

This is qutie appropriate considering we are going to be starting a thursday night Pathfinder game. I myself am going for the neutral evil sorcerer of undead bloodline. I am even halfway tempted to take the Color Spray spell so I can use this one.

Gotta love the oldschool spells, they throw back to the days before it was about saving the world, when it was just you, the cleric, the mage & that annoying elf trying to slay the dragon.

Day 4 - Baby Stirfry or Baby Shiskabob?

"All Hail King Torg!!!"

This one comes from the game Kobolds Ate My Baby. Yes thats right. There is a game in which you play a kobold. And the object of the game is to eat babys(or more accurately, get babys for king torgs feast before he eats you). 

This game is pure slap stick. There are rules where you must perform actions, say phrases & generally make a fool of yourself in front of your friends, just to make your spells work. My favorite is the above quote of course, in which every time King Torg is mentioned, all players must yell "All Hail King Torg!!" or suffer a kobold horrible death check. 

And beleive me, there are many horrible ways a kobold can die.

Day 3 - Bloodly Good Game

Ahhhh warhammer. Not only is this game a hugely fun table top wargame, but the recent years of table top rpgs they have made are fairly awesome. I had a chance some years back to try the warhammer fantasy rpg, & had some pretty awesome moments as a dwarf runemaster.

I havnt gotten a chance to play dark heresy yet, the warhammer 40,000 rpg, but if I do this quote will most likely come up at some point in the game.

Day 2 - I Hunt My Vampires At Night

"You picked the wrong street , bloodsuckin' mother fucker!"

So I was thinking, what would be an appropriate quote for today. We are still in the opening days, so I have so many to pick from. After a while I thought to myself, why not choose one from my all time favorite game, White Wolf's Hunter The Vigil.

The idea of monster hunters has always appealed to me since I seen the movie Monster Squad as a kid. Hunter the Vigil pits your average joe smoe against all the forces of evil the world of darkness has. Some games can get high power if you want them to, involving world wide conspiracies such as the Vatican's personal hunting squads, or the united states governments black ops monster killers.

But at the end of the day I enjoyed most of all, the local group of people ala Supernatural, who just have what they can muster together to fight the evil.

Day 1 - Anybody Got A Match?

So this started out as me being bored & sleep deprived at work, but we shall see if I can carry it on for the full length.

For the next year, each day I will post one quote that is related to RPGs(table top ones & digital ones) in a funny, amusing or interesting way.

So the first quote is an oldie but a goodie, & a personal favorite of mine.
